Hamilton Microlab

Answers come from these docs, with links to the pages used.

The Hamilton Microlab family (STAR, STARlet, STARlet IVD, VANTAGE) is one of the most widely used channel-based liquid handlers in pharma and clinical labs. Channels use Hamilton’s CO-RE tip-pickup mechanism for accurate, low-carryover pipetting from 1 µL up to 1000 µL.

  • Aspirate / dispense — single-channel and multi-channel, with liquid-class profiles per labware
  • Transfer — well-to-well, including serial dilutions
  • Mix — in-tip mixing or aspirate-dispense cycles
  • Tip pickup / eject — managed tip lifecycle
  • Plate / tube rack moves — when paired with an iSWAP gripper

Revolution drives the Microlab through Hamilton’s Venus protocol layer, with each Revolution method mapped to a Venus step. Use the Hamilton Venus runtime (4.x or newer) on the controlling PC; Revolution dispatches commands over the local socket interface.
